Abstract   |   Authors   |   References
The transformation of employment is one of the trends of the modern labor market. Under the influence of many factors that caused changes in labor demand and labor supply, the standard employment typical of industrial economies of the twentieth century began to recede into the background, giving way to less stable forms of securing social and labor relations. In contrast to the stable wage employment under open-ended employment contract and full working day, such forms of employment as incomplete and secondary employment, temporary employment, self-employment, etc. are becoming more and more widespread. Despite the increased attention of the scientific community to this topic, currently there is no unified view on the impact of precarious employment on economic development and quality of working life of the working population. In this regard, we consider it relevant to carry out a comparative study of the situation of workers in standard and non-standard forms of employment, with the aim of identifying their features. The methodological basis of the work was developed at the Institute of Socio-Economic Development of Territories of RAS, and presents the tools to identify standard and non-standard forms of employment, based on the conceptual provisions of C. Cranford, L. Vosko and N. Zhukevich. The database of the research is the data of the monitoring of the quality status of the labor potential of the population in the Vologda Oblast for the year 2016. The analysis has shown that among the employed population of the region non-standard employment relationships prevail (59%). Of concern is the fact that they have features that negatively affect the quality of working life of working population, among which we can name the lack of basic social guarantees and labor contract, secondary employment, etc. As a result, primarily vulnerable categories of the population such as youth and people with low level of education are involved in non-standard employment. Despite the fact that it provides fewer opportunities for self-realization in the labor activity, often this kind of employment is the only option to enter the labor market. This leads to the necessity of taking into account the identified peculiarities in the formation of recommendations for the regulation of non-standard forms of social and labor relations
