Increased global competition and exhaustion of the growth potential of primary industries of the Russian economy necessitate its transition to an innovative model and the search for new sources of economic growth of the country and regions. The possible sources of economic growth of the Russian European North are: the established local fruit market having a significant development potential based on including in economic turnover the resources of wild fruit and berries, the biological reserves of which are very significant in the Northern regions; as well as the increase in the production of fruit and berries in private farms. The implementation of the existing potential of the market of fruit and berries is an important challenge for the regional economy in terms of increasing food security and reducing the dependence on import of fruit and berry production. This issue is particularly important for the residents of Russian Northern regions, where adverse climatic conditions, on the one hand, raise the issue of supplying the population with a sufficient amount of fruit and berries enough for productive activity, and, on the other hand, hinder the development of local production
