The author justifies the relevance of the issue under consideration, shows the high importance of the teamwork as a key asset of the organization for achieving the common goal with minimal economic and social expenditures. The researcher has made an attempt to generalize and analyze theoretical and methodological approaches to understanding the essence of such categories as “team” and “teamwork”, and to identify the basic conditions for the successful teamwork. In order to achieve the stated goal traditional general scientific methods have been used: analysis, synthesis, comparison and generalization. The author marks the main features of the teamwork: interdependence, shared responsibility, result and positive social-psychological climate. The researcher justifies that success of the teamwork and the effective achievement of its goals in accordance with the organization plan are based on two aspects. The first aspect consists in appropriate formation of team members; the second one concerns the working process within the team organized according to work features, administration, communications and psychological climate. In accordance with all mentioned above, the necessary conditions for successful teamwork in the organization have been systematized: availability of certain competences among all its members, proper distribution of roles, objective psychodiagnostic information regarding the personal characteristics of each member, provision of special characteristics of the working process in the team, and the key reasons of unsuccessful teams. The practical significance of the study lies in the fact that the revealed conditions of the successful teamwork can be applied by the management of any organization interested in high results of its activity and in effective achievement of the company’s goals
